Intex Cloud FX with firefox OS launched for Rs 1,999

Ready for the invasion of budget Firefox phones? Intex has one-upped Spice by becoming the first company to launch a Firefox OS phone in India. The Intex Cloud FX has been launched at a scarcely-believable Rs 1,999 and will be a Snapdeal exclusive for now.

For the price, what potential buyers would get is a phone with a 3.5-inch display of HVGA (480×320 pixels) resolution. Firefox OS is designed to run with minimal hardware requirements and Intex has packed in a 1GHz Spreadtrum processor along with 128 MB of RAM

Intex claims this is the most affordable smartphone in India and we have to say the specs don’t seem half bad when looking at the price. Moreover, the phone packs a 2 megapixel rear camera and comes with dual-SIM support. However, this is a 2G-only phone with support for Wi-Fi for further Internet connectivity.

The Cloud FX takes in microSD cards, but support is limited up to 4GB only. It comes with a 1250mAh battery, that sounds decent, but we are not sure how long it will actually last. The phone can be charged and connected to a PC using the microUSB port and there’s Bluetooth support as well.

Later this week, Spice will launch the Fire One Mi-FX 1 that also runs Firefox OS. The Firefox phone from Spice is priced at Rs 2,299, but it sports a front camera, justifying the price increase.
